After weeks of rumors and leaked flyers, Microsoft today confirmed that starting Wednesday the systems will go down in price. If you don’t remember it was $50-Premium, $30-Elite and $20-Core… Too bad about the Core, I would of rather Microsoft make it an even playing field vs the Wii, might of made it very interesting.
What’s this another SKU? Yeah that’s right if you can’t remember it because of that robot Microsoft guy at E3, what the hell was that about, if you ask me perfect time to bring back J Allard! Anyways the Spartan Green will basically be a Premium Xbox 360, no not even Halo can get an Elite. No Canadian price announced yet, but expect around the $450 mark.
The new 80GB PS3 SKU is officially on sale here in Canada and it’s going for a whopping $649.99. Seems crazy to pay that for 20GB more space, not to mention you could already have a more then 60GB one if you were clever enough to realise it’s just a standard notebook hard drive. It comes with Motorstorm for a “limited time” so right now it doesn’t seem like a hard pill to swallow, although what happens once the “limited time” has reached it’s limit, I can’t see them selling it for the same price. Either way if I were you and you are some what tempted at getting the PS3, now the time and get the 60GB before it’s gone.
Everyone’s played this game, well now it’s time to learn just how psychotic it really is once you hit one of the mines. Think about it, every damn time you detonate one, you are killing the very brave men helping find those silly things. Anyways this is a good laugh, enjoy.
I’ve been waiting for this one, for what seems like an eternity now. It’s here, Track & Field is coming out this week on the Xbox Live Arcade for 400 MS points! I’d type some more but I can’t, I’m over joyed.
id Software CEO Todd Hollenshead announced that Quake III Arena is already under development for the Xbox Live’s Arcade, Todd was happy about the Doom numbers so adding this one is was barely any problem. No date has been announced yet, but just the fact that it’s coming out is more then enough.
In other id news Quake Zero is also being made, nothing was announced other then it’ll use the Quake III engine. So maybe another Arcade release on an online release, we’ll have to wait an see eh?
Who ever’s not looking foward to Rock Band are crazy! Even Harmonix are anxious about releasing it, here’s what Alex Rigopulos, CEO and co-founder of Harmonix, had to say:
All of the major systems are complete. As is normally the case in beta, there’s plenty of bug-fixing to be done, finishing off of various details, and lots of play-testing, polishing and tuning. We’re dying to cross the finish line and get this thing out into the world!
So don’t waste your time talking to the media, just get it done!
John Carmack’s new engine in action! If you remember last June at Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference, John along side Steve Jobs showed of id’s new technology, id Tech 5.
John also promised to have the same demo which would feature over 20GB worth of textures running in real time on PC, Mac, 360 and PS3 at E3. However by the time the expo was done, id Tech 5 was no where to be found.
Though yesterday, id Tech 5 showed up at Quakecon behind closed doors, id CEO Todd Hollenshead revealed the demo that was actually the first look at Rage, an all-new IP. The game is still coming to all the formats announced earlier, but the PS3 version will come on 1 BD while the other versions 2 DVDs. The game has been described as “60 percent shooting and 40 percent driving” on planet earth that’s been destroyed by a comet. It features extensive customization for the vehicles, stating “you can’t spell garage without rage”. It’s an open world environment letting you get out of your vehicle at any time you desire. He finished up by saying the game will be done, when it’s done.
Carmack also described his “inverted” approach to developing new intellectual properties, saying id started Orcs and Elves on a cell phone, and then moved it up to the DS. If it works there, Carmack said he’d like to bring it to the Wii as well. Such an approach to building new properties makes sense, Carmack said, because the initial investment put at risk is much smaller.
The good thing about this news is that it gives you the option, some people prefer the precision of the mouse while others just don’t give a shit. Here’s what Mark Rein had to say over at the Epic Forums:
I checked with Steve Polge and he said that YES we are supporting keyboard and mouse in Unreal Tournament 3 on PS3. He is confident we are doing it in a way that will be balanced without feeling “gimped” for either side. We’ll also allow people to choose whether or not they want to allow mixed controller vs. keyboard/mouse games or not.
I think you guys are going to love UT3!More details to come later.
Anyways this is good news for the PS3 version, let’s see if Microsoft will allow it (I doubt it).
Scorehero has scored an awesome gameplay video of Dragonforce’s through the fire and flames being played. Let’s just say that this is getting my hopes back up for Guitar Hero, while Rock Band will definitely stay on top, I see Activision are dead serious about GHIII. They haven’t screwed up on a song as of yet, and it doesn’t look like there’s going to be My Chemical Romance and nor should there be! Any who good pick up by Activision to get this song and they sure nailed the difficulty for it.
