Indy game Fez just got a new screenshot today, and interestingly enough, it’s a video. This game plays in 2D side-scrolling style but you can rotate the world. It looks like fun; can’t wait to see this on XBLA.

WHAT!?

So… We called this on the last FAIOR. This is the “3DS Expansion Slide Pad”, it adds a 2nd analog pad to the system and apparently adds 2 more shoulder buttons. It looks ugly and it also blocks the game slot, meaning you’ll have to take it off to switch games. Oh well, I’m assuming this means the pre-TGS announcement Nintendo is scheduled to make is a new hardware revision for the 3DS.

Dead Island was recently released on Steam, however it wasn’t the finished product. People who bought it on the service received an older version, but the publisher Deep Silver has apologized and let us know that an update is incoming ASAP.

The system requirements for Rage has been released by Bethesda. The game is a little less than a month away, and I’m really looking forward to it. You can go check them out here, the specs aren’t that bad to be honest.

There’s a Persona 4 fighting game coming! Yes. You read that correctly. It’s being developed by Arc System Works, the same team behind Guilty Gear and Blazblue and it’s looking very pretty. It’ll be interesting to see how it plays and how it’s received by the public, you can check out some screen-shots here.

A bunch of PS Vita game announcements got leaked from the upcoming Famitsu Japanese magazine. They are:

• Lumines: Electronic Symphony
• Rayman Origins
• Michael Jackson The Experience HD
• Dark Quest
• Sumioni
• Dream Club Zero Portable
• Moe Moe Daisensou
• Ragnarok Odyssey

Interesting to see Rayman Origins and Ragnarok Odyssey on there. We already know what the Rayman game is, I’m just wondering if the Ragnarok game will be something entirely new.

G4 reports that all three Devil May Cry games have been rated by the ESRB for release on both the PS3 and Xbox 360.

A Japanese poster for Battlefield 3 might’ve revealed that the 360 version of the game will come packaged on 2 DVDs. Chalk up another reason to get the PS3 version, unless you have a beefy PC of course.

The latest entry in the Driver series has an “online pass” attached to it. Ubisoft fudged it up big time while the codes for these passes are non-functional, making it so no one could play online for a while. The game is now free-to-play, so go buy the game used! “Due to a printing error on the insert of some copies of Driver: San Francisco in North America, Ubisoft has elected to provide the Driver Uplay Passport content for free,” Ubisoft said in a statement sent to gaming news site CVG. “Although this problem does not affect players outside of North America, we have decided to mirror this offer to everyone in the world in order to be fair to all our players.”

Borderlands 2 has a teaser trailer up, it doesn’t really show much, but I do like the look of it.

Minecraft: Pocket Edition has been released today on Sony’s Experia Play (you know the PlayStation Phone), it costs $6.99. If you’ve played it before, you pretty much know what to expect.

GamesCom is happening as we speak in Cologne, Germany and a bunch of trailers has been released, so I’ll just list them all here. Soul Caliber V, Lollipop Chainsaw, Street Fighter x Tekken, Need For Speed: The Run, Devil May Cry, Dark Souls, Mass Effect 3, Battlefield 3, SSX, Uncharted 3, Infamous 2: Festival of Blood, Resistance 3 and UFC Undisputed 3.

EA has revealed a new FIFA Street will be debuting in early 2012. Continuing in EA news, Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning will be released on February 7th, 2011.

After a Portuguese board game blocked the European release of Double Fine’s XBLA title Trenched, Microsoft confirmed today that the game will be released in Europe this September under the new title Iron Brigade.

Bastion is now available on Steam for $15, highly suggest checking it out if you don’t have a 360.

Announced during their press conference at GamesCom, Sony let word out that the Vita’s games will all be available to download. Ubisoft will bring a new Lumines and Assassin’s Creed to PS Vita. They also unveiled a new PSP model, that doesn’t have wifi and costs 99€, it will be available in Europe only.

Resistance: Burning Skies just got revealed for the PS Vita, it will take place moments before the 2nd game in the series. They showed off some gameplay footage on-stage, it looks good, finally dual analog sticks on a portable!

Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 has been dated in Japan for November 17th. I’m guessing the North American release couldn’t be far off this date then.

Ninja Gaiden 3 has PlayStation Move support, I don’t know where the demand for it came from, but I’ll check it out.

Wow! The PS3 just got a world-wide price-drop effective immediately, you can go to your local shop and snap one up for $250. That’s insanely cheap.

To no one’s surprise, DICE announced via their blog that Battlefield 3 will require an Origin account. So if you don’t already have an account, and you want to play BF3, you might as well create one now.

Saints Row: The Third has just released some new in-game footage, just adding to the already over-the-top nature of the game. You can go check it out on YouTube here.

Google adds video games to their plus social network. It’s first roll out of games will include 16 games such as, Rovio’s Angry Birds, PopCap Games’ Bejeweled Blitz, BioWare’s Dragon Age Legends. You can go check out the full details on their blog.

Grand Slam Tennis, a Wii exclusive EA Sports title, is getting a sequel on the PS3 and 360. It’ll feature total racquet control, which is just a fancy way of saying it’s dual analog, much like the NHL series. The PS3 version will also have PS Move support. It’s the first time a video game will feature all 4 Grand Slam courts, as well as the first time Wimbledon’s center court will appear in any game. The tennis video game competition seems to be heating up, with great titles like Virtua Tennis and Top Spin available to players. It’ll be interesting to see if we get a clear-cut winner. Grand Slam Tennis 2 will be out in 2012.

LG had placed a patent infridgment lawsuit on PS3 a while ago. Well now Sony and LG has agreed to terms out-of-court. The settlement was undisclosed. LG was claiming that they infidged on some sort of Bluray patent.

Twisted Metal got delayed today to 2012, it was originally scheduled for October 4th, 2011. David Jaffe, the game’s creator had this to say on the PlayStation blog: “If we shipped Twisted Metal tomorrow-–going off the response from folks who have played it—I assure you, it would never be a bad game. Not even close. But we’re aiming for a heck of a lot more than that! With Twisted Metal we plan to ship a multiplayer classic. We plan to ship the best Twisted Metal ever made. We plan to convert a lot of folks who think vehicle combat is a relic best left to 90’s nostalgia. And we plan to explode the belief that the only relevant kind of shooter is a first person one (or a 3rd person one, where you play a human… with a tee shirt not all the way tucked in …). Most importantly, we plan on treating you – the kind folks who play our game (and pay our bills) – like the VIPs that you are. You only deserve our best and we appreciate your understanding as we take a little more time to guarantee that our best is what we deliver”.

You can get the Bastion soundtrack right now on Super Giant Games’ site. It’s available to stream, or download for $10, you can also get it on a compact disc for $15. In more Bastion news, the PC version got a release date of August 16th on Steam for $15. If you’re not a fan of Steam, looks like you’ll have to wait an unspecified amount of time.

Minecraft is still in beta but it has managed to sell 3 million copies. That’s quite the feat for any game, but for a game that’s not even officially out yet, that’s very impressive.

We’ve discussed this on Fresh Air is Over-Rated before, but for some reason it seems to be reappearing on other blogs. So let’s reiterate, EA has released a list of digital retailers that Battlefield 3 will be available on, and that list did not contain Steam. There’s no word if it’ll ever come to Steam, so don’t count on it yet.

Sony revealed PSN PLAY today, it’s very much like the Summer of Arcade on the 360. There are 4 games you can buy for $15 each, (Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike Online Edition, The Baconing, BloodRayne: Betrayal and Renegade Ops) they go on sale starting August 23rd. If you purchase all of them (and you’re above 18 years of age) you’ll receive Payday: The Heist a $20 value, for free. On top of all this, if you’re a PSN+ subscriber you’ll get 20% off everything. The value just keeps coming, if you buy all of these games. You get DLC for free, and if you pre-order it all, you get XMB themes.

Nolan North, the voice of Drake in Uncharted and everyone else in every other game, will voice the Penguin in Arkham City. Crazy right?

For some reason Bethesda is suing Notch over his next game entitled Scrolls. The title is a card-battling game, so I’m as baffled as the next person as to why they’d do this. Notch has said that this is simply lawyers-being-lawyers and is still looking forward to playing Prey 2.
