Hello Internet! Were back and this week we talk DLC, twitch plays Dark Souls and much more.
Twisted Metal got delayed today to 2012, it was originally scheduled for October 4th, 2011. David Jaffe, the game’s creator had this to say on the PlayStation blog: “If we shipped Twisted Metal tomorrow-–going off the response from folks who have played it—I assure you, it would never be a bad game. Not even close. But we’re aiming for a heck of a lot more than that! With Twisted Metal we plan to ship a multiplayer classic. We plan to ship the best Twisted Metal ever made. We plan to convert a lot of folks who think vehicle combat is a relic best left to 90’s nostalgia. And we plan to explode the belief that the only relevant kind of shooter is a first person one (or a 3rd person one, where you play a human… with a tee shirt not all the way tucked in …). Most importantly, we plan on treating you – the kind folks who play our game (and pay our bills) – like the VIPs that you are. You only deserve our best and we appreciate your understanding as we take a little more time to guarantee that our best is what we deliver”.
You can get the Bastion soundtrack right now on Super Giant Games’ site. It’s available to stream, or download for $10, you can also get it on a compact disc for $15. In more Bastion news, the PC version got a release date of August 16th on Steam for $15. If you’re not a fan of Steam, looks like you’ll have to wait an unspecified amount of time.
Minecraft is still in beta but it has managed to sell 3 million copies. That’s quite the feat for any game, but for a game that’s not even officially out yet, that’s very impressive.
We’ve discussed this on Fresh Air is Over-Rated before, but for some reason it seems to be reappearing on other blogs. So let’s reiterate, EA has released a list of digital retailers that Battlefield 3 will be available on, and that list did not contain Steam. There’s no word if it’ll ever come to Steam, so don’t count on it yet.
Sony revealed PSN PLAY today, it’s very much like the Summer of Arcade on the 360. There are 4 games you can buy for $15 each, (Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike Online Edition, The Baconing, BloodRayne: Betrayal and Renegade Ops) they go on sale starting August 23rd. If you purchase all of them (and you’re above 18 years of age) you’ll receive Payday: The Heist a $20 value, for free. On top of all this, if you’re a PSN+ subscriber you’ll get 20% off everything. The value just keeps coming, if you buy all of these games. You get DLC for free, and if you pre-order it all, you get XMB themes.
Nolan North, the voice of Drake in Uncharted and everyone else in every other game, will voice the Penguin in Arkham City. Crazy right?
For some reason Bethesda is suing Notch over his next game entitled Scrolls. The title is a card-battling game, so I’m as baffled as the next person as to why they’d do this. Notch has said that this is simply lawyers-being-lawyers and is still looking forward to playing Prey 2.
Breach has been delayed from it’s original “early summer” release, to now being a Q1 title for next year. However, it’s not all bad news as Atomic Games have announced the game will now include a hardcore mode. The move will also allow the PC version to be day-and-day with the console release.
As you can clearly see in the picture, the PSN seems like it’ll be getting content from TV networks. Nothings been officially announced yet, but this video is straight from Sony and seems legit. Watch the ad after the jump.
