Rockstar Games revealed today that Max Payne 3 will be on store shelves in March 2012. The 2 screen shots released look pretty good, it remains to be seen if this will top the gameplay and atmosphere of the first game though.

A couple of trailers got released that caught my eye today. First off, Ragnarok Odyssey got announced (sorta) yesterday and now we have footage. It looks a little Monster Hunter in nature, you’ll be able to play 4 players on the PSVita, I’m interested! Than we saw footage for the Persona 4 fighting game entitled The Ultimate in Mayonaka Arena. As an Arc System Works, it of course looks gorgeous, however I’ve never personally been into them.

Timofiend posted an in-depth walk-through of his PS3/360 PC mod. Yes, he put a PS3 and 360 in 1 PC case. If you’re bold enough to try it out yourself, he pretty much details it step-by-step. Very interesting, it even boots both at the same time!

The iOS football based game Backbreaker just got an NFL license. The game is called NFL Rivals and costs $2.99, $2 more than regular Backbreaker. It’s interesting because these guys made a football game that rivaled Madden and was even on the consoles as a downloadable game. I doubt this new one would come to the consoles as EA has the exclusive rights to NFL games on consoles. Although it’s fascinating to see what’s going on in the world of football video games.

From Dust is coming to the PlayStation 3 on September 27th for $14.99. The PC game was met with alot of criticism for being a poor porting job from the 360 and also having the terrible Ubisoft DRM, that requires an internet connection at all times, even if Ubi said it wouldn’t.

The 2nd shot from Max Payne 3
Uncharted 3 just started it’s television advertisements today, you can go check it out on YouTube here.

In more Max Payne news, Rockstar revealed they plan to bring the classic game to mobiles. “Available for the first time on mobile, Max Payne will have connectivity to the Rockstar Games Social Club and boast the same features as its PC counterparts,” reads the announcement, “including HD graphics and high-resolution textures that take advantage of the latest mobile technologies, including incredibly customizable controls and support for wired controllers.” We’re still not sure what systems they mean, but maybe it’s a safe assumption that this means the iOS devices.

Modernwarfare3.com got seized by Activision today. They filled an ICANN request to take ownership from Anthony Abraham, and they had to prove the site was identical to, or similar enough to cause confusion with, one of its trademarks; that the domain name was registered and used in bad faith, and that Abraham had no rights or legitimate interests with respect to the domain. They did that and won the case. Congrats Activision? You’re legal powers beat 1 guy, yay!

The Gamescom news shit storm continues today! I’ll do like I did for yesterday and just post all the trailers together. Rachet & Clank: All 4 One, Need For Speed: The Run, WildStar, PS Vita LittleBigPlanet, Uncharted: Golden Abyss, Dead Rising 2 Off The Record, Assassin’s Creed: Revelations, X-Men: Destiny, Prototype 2, Goldeneye 007: Reloaded, Guild Wars 2 and Sonic Generations.

A new screen for Borderlands 2 has been released to the public, it shows off what the gameplay might look like, stunning photo!

A new Wii has been announced, it’s been stripped of GameCube backwards compatibility. I guess it’s for Nintendo to save money, whatever the case may be, there’s no plans for it coming to North America (Europe region only). A photo has been leaked though, and seems like it’ll be bundled with Wii Sports and Wii Party.

Tekken 3D Prime Edition got unveiled at Gamescom, it’s coming to the 3DS (d’uh) and will come packaged with the Tekken: Vengeance CG movie on the actual game cart. No word on whether or not the movie will be view-able in 3D.

The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword got a firm release date today, mark your calenders for November 20th Wii fans!

Originally announced as a PlayStation exclusive, Silent Hill: HD Collection is also making it’s way onto the Xbox 360. It features HD versions of Silent Hill 2 and 3 with new voice acting and Achievements and Trophies.

A new patch for Warcraft: Cataclysm is coming that will allow you to battle Deathwing. It will also include three new five-player dungeons, a new raid and some cool new Ethereal-powered abilities.

Yesterday’s PS3 price-drop of $249 has also reduced the system’s 320gb variety. It’s already been spotted on Amazon and Newegg, it comes bundled with inFAMOUS 2, totally worth it in my opinion.

Blizzard game director Jay Wilson said during a Gamescom press conference today, that he expects the Diablo III beta to hit in September, if not sooner. The game still has no official release date.

Minecraft creator Markus “Notch” Persson has challenged Bethesda to a 3v3 Quake match, after he got handed papers telling him to not use the Scrolls name. Bethesda is claiming that the name is too similar to their Elder’s Scrolls title. In any case, if Notch wins, he wants them to drop the lawsuit and if Bethesda wins he’ll switch the name. Good stuff Notch, gotta love him.

Gabe Newell spoke about the Half-Life 2: Episode 3 protesters that were outside his Valve offices a few weeks ago, while he was at Gamescom. “They wanted to know when Episode Three was coming out,” Gabe said. “I said ‘I can’t tell you.’ And they were, like, ‘Okay…’ We then asked them how many sodas they had, they only had two, so we sent them some sodas and some pizza.” The group also got a tour of Valve’s offices and some hands-on time with Dota 2. “We needed people to test,” he explained. “The cops showed up after someone else in the building called the police. He rode up on his Segway, but it turns out [the cop] was a big Half-Life fan. So he completely understood where they were coming from and didn’t chase them off.” His last words about it were “We miss them,” funny stuff Mr. Newell.

Community manager for Infinity Ward, Robert Bowling confirmed that Modern Warfare 3 will indeed have support for dedicated servers on the PC. That’s great news for the competitive scene, as it was sorely missed in the last title.

Twisted Metal got delayed today to 2012, it was originally scheduled for October 4th, 2011. David Jaffe, the game’s creator had this to say on the PlayStation blog: “If we shipped Twisted Metal tomorrow-–going off the response from folks who have played it—I assure you, it would never be a bad game. Not even close. But we’re aiming for a heck of a lot more than that! With Twisted Metal we plan to ship a multiplayer classic. We plan to ship the best Twisted Metal ever made. We plan to convert a lot of folks who think vehicle combat is a relic best left to 90’s nostalgia. And we plan to explode the belief that the only relevant kind of shooter is a first person one (or a 3rd person one, where you play a human… with a tee shirt not all the way tucked in …). Most importantly, we plan on treating you – the kind folks who play our game (and pay our bills) – like the VIPs that you are. You only deserve our best and we appreciate your understanding as we take a little more time to guarantee that our best is what we deliver”.

You can get the Bastion soundtrack right now on Super Giant Games’ site. It’s available to stream, or download for $10, you can also get it on a compact disc for $15. In more Bastion news, the PC version got a release date of August 16th on Steam for $15. If you’re not a fan of Steam, looks like you’ll have to wait an unspecified amount of time.

Minecraft is still in beta but it has managed to sell 3 million copies. That’s quite the feat for any game, but for a game that’s not even officially out yet, that’s very impressive.

We’ve discussed this on Fresh Air is Over-Rated before, but for some reason it seems to be reappearing on other blogs. So let’s reiterate, EA has released a list of digital retailers that Battlefield 3 will be available on, and that list did not contain Steam. There’s no word if it’ll ever come to Steam, so don’t count on it yet.

Sony revealed PSN PLAY today, it’s very much like the Summer of Arcade on the 360. There are 4 games you can buy for $15 each, (Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike Online Edition, The Baconing, BloodRayne: Betrayal and Renegade Ops) they go on sale starting August 23rd. If you purchase all of them (and you’re above 18 years of age) you’ll receive Payday: The Heist a $20 value, for free. On top of all this, if you’re a PSN+ subscriber you’ll get 20% off everything. The value just keeps coming, if you buy all of these games. You get DLC for free, and if you pre-order it all, you get XMB themes.

Nolan North, the voice of Drake in Uncharted and everyone else in every other game, will voice the Penguin in Arkham City. Crazy right?

For some reason Bethesda is suing Notch over his next game entitled Scrolls. The title is a card-battling game, so I’m as baffled as the next person as to why they’d do this. Notch has said that this is simply lawyers-being-lawyers and is still looking forward to playing Prey 2.
